About me

The longer version.

Intro

Jonathan Apostol

Hey, I’m Jonathan. I’m a software engineer, which doesn’t really mean much by itself. To me it means I like to:

  1. Build things: APIs, front-end UX, integrations, you name it.
  2. Solve problems: big, small, ambiguous, well-defined, any kind.

And I care about how we do them.

Background

I’ve been working in tech for over 9 years, from startups to large companies working on products ranging from CRM tools and e-commerce platforms to cloud security and financial services. I thrive in collaborative environments where I can learn and grow, and I enjoy mentoring others along the way.

I’m Filipino-American, which means I food is my love language. My favorites include: pizza, KFC (Korean Fried Chicken), sushi, coffee and milk tea (at basically any hour, except maybe Vietnamese coffee). Finding my go-to spots in a city is genuinely one of my favorite things to do.

Outside of work, I run (seasonally; even though I should have no complaints since I’m based in California). I ran my first full marathon in 2025 and started preparing for my second at the end of the year.

I also love games - mostly video games, but board games too. I’m the kind of gamer who will spend twenty hours exploring a game’s side content before doing the main story.

This site

This is my personal space — where I write about what I’m building, places I’ve been / things I ate, and whatever else has my attention.
